The Tubridy show bucket & spade tour comes to a town near you

12 July 2010

Starting Monday 12 right through to Friday 16 July, The Tubridy Show Bucket & Spade Tour will be broadcasting live from some of Ireland's most loved seaside destinations. Sponsored by Airtricity, Ireland's cheapest supplier of electricity and gas, the show will be travelling in convoy across the country, capturing the sights, sounds and the atmosphere of a real Irish summer.

With the Irish summer sun splitting the stones and 'staycations' the order of the day, The Tubridy Show convoy accompanied by the Camembert Quartet will roll into five locations; Bundoran, Co. Donegal, Salthill, Co. Galway, Ballybunion, Co. Kerry, Tramore, Co. Waterford and Bray, Co. Wicklow. Each day on the programme, Ryan will be speaking to holiday makers and locals alike from the venues and hear tips on local attractions with thanks to Fáilte Ireland.

Says Ryan:

"I'm very much looking forward to the Bucket and Spade Tour; it's a great way to see Ireland and meet The Tubridy Show listeners. I spent time in many of these places as a child and they hold very fond memories for me. As someone who holidays in Ireland a lot, I know that this will be the quintessential bus man's holiday. I realise that a lot of people have to holiday in Ireland this summer and I hope, like me, they won't be disappointed. Be sure to pack both suncream and an umbrella!"

On 12 July, the Tubridy team will begin their summer adventure in Donegal's Bundoran, where they will broadcast live from the RNLI Lifeboat Station on Boat Quay. Ryan will be joined by former Donegal manager GAA Brian McEniff and his brother, hotelier Sean McEniff, as well as a number of local RNLI volunteers.

The National Aquarium will play host to the tour on 13 July, coming live from the Prom in Salthill. As Galway celebrates its renowned Arts Festival, Ryan will welcome Sharon Shannon and The Saw Doctors to the programme.

Destination number three for The Tubridy Show Bucket and Spade Tour is Ballybunion's Golf Hotel on 14 July. Admiring the views from the hotel's famous rooftop will be Páidí Ó Sé, writer Billy Keane and we'll be treated to musical delights from Séamus Begley.

Next stop is the surfer's paradise of Tramore, Co. Waterford. The programme will come live from the playground of the South East on July 15.

The final stop on the tour is Bray, Co. Wicklow, on 16 July. Ryan and his team will be soaking up the atmosphere at Bray Summerfest, which runs throughout July and August. The Tubridy Show team will be stationed near the iconic Bray bandstand looking out on the seafront.

To celebrate Ryan's week-long Bucket & Spade Tour Airtricity is offering listeners each day the opportunity to nominate a boy or girl aged 6-12 to be an Airtricity League mascot at the upcoming Airtricity Challenge in the Aviva Stadium on August 4, when the Airtricity League XI take on the might of Manchester United – plus, each daily winner will be entered into a tour-ending draw for a year's free electricity and a year's free gas from Airtricity!

So pack up your best picnic blanket, speedos, suncream and join Ryan Tubridy, The Camembert Quartet and a range of local celebrities for The Tubridy Show Bucket & Spade Tour 2010!
