Greater Gabbard, Offshore Project Director
Location : London
Reporting to: Head of UK Offshore
Objective: To ensure the timely delivery of the Greater Gabbard Offshore Winds project in a form to maximise Airtricity shareholder value
Role: To lead the project for Airtricity through the pre-construction phase to successful Financial Close [and through construction to commissioning]
Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be required to:
General management
- To keep under review the project timescales in conjunction with Fluor, and to recommend any changes to the project programme
- To manage the Airtricity budget for the project, in conjunction with Fluor
- To manage the risk matrix for the project, in conjunction with Fluor
- To lobby for government assistance for the project together with Fluor
- To manage Airtricity’s PR strategy for the project in conjunction with Fluor
- To report to the Airtricity Steering Group on the progress of the project
Technology issues
To evaluate and manage the technology risk issues on the project, including:
- Identification of turbine options, taking account of lifetime cost, performance, reliability and operational experience
- Identification of warranty requirements and availability
- Identification of technology supplier schedules, equipment availability and bankability issues
- To identify the most suitable turbine (and turbine supplier) for the project in conjunction with Fluor
Development
To lead the completion of the development phase services under the GGOWL shareholders agreement, including responsibility for:
- Completion of the EIA and consents application process
- Stakeholder consultation and third party collaboration
- Obtaining a suitable grid connection
- Obtaining necessary land rights
- Negotiating the Crown Estate Lease and Licence
Pre-construction
To lead the Airtricity pre-construction phase services under the GGOWL shareholders agreement, including responsibility for:
- Managing the completion of an accurate wind resource assessment
- Negotiating the PPA
- Negotiating all required consents and land rights
To be the Airtricity lead on the Fluor pre-construction services under the GGOWL shareholders agreement, including responsibility for:
- Carrying out of detailed site investigations
- Developing the EPC contract, O&M and warranty agreements
- Arranging project finance and insurance
