Job Description: Structural / Civil Engineer

Report to: Offshore Engineering Manager

Position: Staff Position

Summary: Airtricity is seeking to appoint a Structural / Civil Engineer with broad ranging capabilities. The ideal candidate would have experience in offshore foundation design for oil and gas platforms or offshore wind farms. He/she will have a formal qualification in Structural / Civil Engineering or Naval Architecture and have a flair for interfacing in multi discipline teams, communication and delegation, as well as an overall gift for getting a job done to the highest standards.

Key Tasks will include the following:

Offshore Wind farms:

  • Assess foundation concepts for shallow and deep water offshore wind farms
  • Review conceptual foundation design reports
  • Perform detail design calculations and analysis of structures
  • Review and recommend geophysical and geotechnical site investigation requirements
  • Prepare conceptual designs during EIS stage
  • Manage structural engineering consultants during design and construction

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years experience addressing the tasks noted
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations
  • Membership of relevant industry bodies

Key Skills:

  • Detailed knowledge of design codes and design guidance and the ability to solve demanding technical problems to demonstrate structural integrity
  • Excellent communications and peoples skills
  • Highly organised approach to work
  • Comfortable presenting at senior management and Board level
  • Fluent in oral and written English
  • Willingness to travel
