Offshore activities


Ireland
Phase 1 of the Arklow Bank wind farm project (25MW) was co-developed with GE Energy. Phase 2 of the Arklow Project has been on hold over the last number of years pending changes in the Irish market.  Airtricity is currently analysing the effect of the recent expansion of the REFIT scheme by the Government in order to determine the best aproach to moving the project forwards.  

United Kingdom
In December 2003, Airtricity together with its Joint Venture partner Fluor was awarded a lease from The Crown Estate to build and operate a 500MWoffshore wind farm at Greater Gabbard in the United Kingdom. When complete the wind farm will produce enough green energy to power over 415,000 homes.
 
Germany
Airtricity together with the original “Offshore Bürgerwindpark Butendiek” will build a 300MW offshore wind farm in the German North Sea by 2010/2011.  Butendiek, located 34 kilometres off the coast of Sylt in Schleswig-Holstein, is one of the best consented offshore wind sites in Germany.

The Netherlands
Airtricity has to date applied for full consent for two offshore wind farms in the Netherlands: West Rijn (280-300MW) and Breeveertien II (300-350MW).
