We calculate your payments to cover the cost of your whole year’s electricity, so increasing your payments manually can lead to a build-up of credit on your account. If this happens, we won’t be able to issue you a refund - instead your monthly payment amount will be reduced.
Ways to keep your payments accurate
To keep your payments as accurate as possible, we calculate them using a number of different factors and review them regularly to ensure they reflect your electricity usage and changes in electricity prices. In addition, here are some things you can do to help:
Monitor your usage
If you submit regular meter readings we will have accurate usage information to go by when we review your payments (four times a year). You can also view a history of all your meter readings online through My Airtricity.
Let us know if your usage changes
If you start using more electricity (for example, if you build an extension to your house), you should contact our Customer Service team to see if your monthly payments need to be increased.
