We calculate your payments to cover the cost of your whole year’s electricity, so reducing your payments manually can lead to a build-up of debt on your account. If this happens, we may have to increase your payments to pay this off.
Ways to keep your payments accurate
Your payments are calculated using a number of different factors and reviewed regularly to ensure they cover your electricity usage and electricity prices, but there are also some things you can do to help:
Monitor your usage
If you submit regular meter readings we will have accurate usage information to go by when we review your payments (four times every year). You can also view a history of all your meter readings online through My Airtricity. You can also check your Airtricity 3-monthly statement for information on your usage.
Let us know if your usage levels changes
If you start using more electricity (for example, if you build an extension to your house), you should contact our Customer Service team on 1850 81 22 20 to see if your monthly payments need to be increased.
