No, you don’t have to submit a gas and electricity reading at the same time. You can submit one and not the other, or neither.

What happens if you don’t submit a reading

Electricity customers                         

If you can’t send in a meter reading – don’t worry. We’ll use the estimates when needed, and will update these when we receive the quarterly readings from ESB Networks.

Gas customers

Unfortunately we can’t estimate your gas and we also can’t choose when estimates are sent to us. So if you don’t submit a meter reading during your billing period, and we also don’t receive a reading or estimate from Bord Gáis Networks, we won’t be able to bill you. If this happens, your statement will have an electricity invoice only and no invoice for gas.
