Pass-through charges are fees paid to other companies who operate and maintain the gas network.
These charges are approved by the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) and apply to all gas suppliers in the Republic of Ireland.
Types of Gas Pass-through Charges
As at 1st October 2010, the pass-through charges for domestic gas supplies include the following charges:
- Transmission charge: covers the cost of transporting gas from the processing plant
- Distribution charge: covers the cost of sending gas to your property from the nearest distribution point
If you are a high-volume customer, you may have an additional standing charge for each kWh of gas used.
