Units
Units are different for each item:
Rate type (eg. Dom DF Gas Staff): Kilowatt hours (kWh) - the unit for gas
Standing Charges: Number of days in your billing period
Carbon Tax: Kilowatt hours (kWh) - the unit for gas
Rate
Your gas rates vary depending on when you joined Airtricity, your payment method and whether you are signed up to eBilling.
Your standing charges are determined by your yearly consumption.
Carbon Tax is calculated at €0.0037 (ex-VAT) per kWh from the 1st May 2012.
Rate type
Your gas rates vary depending on when you joined Airtricity, your payment method and whether you are signed up to eBilling.
If you see two different rates, this usually means that your rates changed during the billing period eg. the 12-month introductory period ended and you went onto standard rates, or your rates went down because you switched to eBilling and/or Direct Debit.
Standing charges
Standing charges are a combination of the fixed charges associated with providing gas network services and a share of the supply costs in servicing your account. They may vary by supplier.
Carbon Tax
This is a tax introduced by the government on all energy sources that produce carbon dioxide emissions. It's charged by all suppliers.
Value Added Tax (VAT)
VAT is payable on gas usage, standing charges and Carbon Tax at 13.5%.

Costs for gas usage, standing charges and Carbon Tax added together minus VAT.
Total charges for this period
Costs for gas usage, standing charges and Carbon Tax added together including VAT.
Billing Period
The dates which this bill refers to. We bill gas once every 2 months - but this may be longer if we don't receive a meter reading.
Payment Due
When you need to pay your bill by. For Direct Debit customers, this is the date that your payment will be taken out of your account.
