All Understanding Your Bill topics

Why do you sometimes use estimated meter readings?

Your meter is read by ESB Networks (electricity) or Bord Gáis Networks (gas) four times a year, so we rely on estimated readings outside of these times to bill you.

For electricity, we calculate your reading using a number of factors including your past readings, past usage, current usage and the time of year to ensure they’re as accurate as possible.

For gas, we can’t produce estimates and have to request these from Bord Gáis Networks, when needed.

Tip:

Pay your bill your way. We have lots of payment options including online, bank, post office, cheque and phone.
