Establishing partnerships with local developers in new markets is the chosen method for Airtricity’s rapid expansion beyond its existing markets. Continental Europe is the primary focus, with Sweden, France, Italy, Poland and Turkey as priority countries. Airtricity is seeking dynamic domestic business partners with good local knowledge, influence and skills to help expand wind farm development activities in these markets.

Through partnerships with leading international companies such as GE and Fluor, Airtricity is also taking a leading role in the development of offshore wind farms. The Group has the ambition to develop a portfolio of wind farms in a number of key markets around the world, each of 500MW or more. Its current short-term priorities are in continental Europe in the countries mentioned above. However, in the medium term, we are interested in onshore and offshore developments across Scandinavia, Southern and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Airtricity’s “find, develop, own and operate” business model has the distinctive feature of taking projects all the way from the initial identification of suitable, windy greenfield sites, through to receiving permits, grid connection and other development stages to financial close, turbine supply, construction, commissioning and finally to operation, sale and supply of green energy.
