Wind Analyst - Portugal

Position Profile

This position reports to a Wind, Analysis, Research, & Standards (WARS) Senior Analyst.  The services conducted will be primarily for the Portuguese development team, although it is likely that a proportion of the successful candidate’s time will be spent supporting existing WARS functions in England, Wales and Offshore.  The Analyst will therefore be an active member of multiple development teams.

Location

The position will be based in either the UK (London or South-West England) or Ireland but will involve spending at least one week a month in Portugal. Although integration within the development teams served is essential, the role will on occasion require lone working.

Job Responsibilities

The principal responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:

• Early wind resource assessments and layouts;
• Delivering high quality datasets of wind measurements from each site suitable for use in a low uncertainty wind resource assessment;
• Implementing WARS safety standards for meteorological masts and management of mast subcontractors;
• Internal electricity production estimates and management of subcontracted analyses;
• Internal site condition assessments and management of subcontracted analyses.

The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of WARS methods and QA procedures, and also to WARS research activities.

Personnel Specification

• Graduate with a good engineering or physical science degree
• Preferably 1 years post-qualification experience in the field of wind resource assessment
• Strong analytical skills and very comfortable with IT
• Ability to balance attention to detail with engineering judgment 
• High levels of energy and self-motivation
• Have a capability to communicate clearly to other specialists and professionals not from a technology background in both Portuguese and English (written and verbal communication).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to travel
