Operating wind farms

Based in Omagh, Co. Tyrone, Airtricity Developments NI Ltd has been established to identify, gain consent and develop suitable sites for the construction of wind farms in Northern Ireland.  This is done in full consultation with local communities, with sensitive and professional planning in our environmental assessment. 

Airtricity has over 360MW of wind energy in the development pipeline in NI to add to its operating wind farm at Tappaghan (19.5MW) and its wind farm in construction at Bin Mountain (9MW). 

The attractive renewable incentive scheme for England, Wales and Scotland was extended to NI in 2005, making this market attractive for renewable electricity development.  Airtricity is also examining opportunities to acquire development assets in this region.
