Construction Project Manager, HV & Electrical Works - AR/08/99
Report to: Construction Manager Ireland
Location: Ideally based at the Killarney office or at the project site office, but could be based at one of our other Irish regional offices.
Summary
Airtricity is seeking to appoint a Construction Project Manager to manage the HV 110kV substation contracts and site electrical contracts on two of its windfarm projects in the Limerick area.
The key target for this person will be to deliver these substation and electrical projects on time and to budget, fully compliant with design and EHS parameters, which meet Airtricity, Partner, and Stakeholder expectations.
Preferably this role will be based at Airtricity’s Killarney office or at the project site office. Alternatively this role could be based at one of our other regional offices (currently Dublin, Belfast, Omagh and Castlebar).
Key Tasks
- Responsible for managing EHS, budget, schedule and quality on assigned contracts / projects
- Manage all stages of the contracts from receipt of planning permission, design, through tendering and appointment of the contractors, to hand over of the completed works to the client, Airtricity Generation
- Manage internal project team and interface with other Airtricity departments to deliver contracts safely, on time and on budget: Development, Engineering, Resource Assessment, Procurement, Finance depts.
- Manage external project team to deliver contracts safely, on time and on budget: Legal advisors, Engineering Consultants, Planning Consultants, EHS Consultants, Main and Sub-contractors
- Interface with and where appropriate manage project stakeholders including landowners, local councils, ESB, Eirgrid, NPWS, Planners, on construction activities and access issues
- Manage multiple contracts in parallel; project manage the project team(s) and directly manage a team of one or more project managers or site based construction managers
- Report on a monthly basis the EHS, Budget, Schedule and Risk performance of the project
Education and experience
The ideal candidate will likely be working in the electricity industry in Ireland and will have experience delivering projects in the transmission or distribution sectors. This person will currently be working for the distribution or transmission operators or an IPP, or working on behalf of a client as a designer, consultant, or contractor. Candidates should be able to show site and office experience as well as a track record of building, leading, and delivering significant electrical infrastructure projects safely, on time and on budget:
- Formal qualification in Engineering or Construction, preferably electrical or power engineering
- A minimum of 8 years experience working on large-scale Power / Electrical / Wind / Energy projects
- Has planned or designed and led projects in one of the Power / Electrical / Wind / Energy sectors
- Has negotiated and managed high value EPC / turnkey type contracts
