Electrical Design Engineer - AR/08/14
Role
Airtricity are currently seeking to appoint an Electrical Design Engineer to carry out up-front wind farm detailed electrical design works for state of the art wind farm power stations. The role will involve overseeing and managing all aspects of electrical engineering design across a portfolio of projects in Irish and international market places.
The successful individual will report direct to the Electrical Engineering Manager.

The role will be based in Belfast or Dublin
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out wind farm detailed electrical design works including:
- Fault level studies, insulation co-ordination and transient over-voltage studies
- Load flow studies
- Grid Code compliance studies
- Harmonic analysis
- Protection studies
- Loss studies
- Preparing electrical design packages for inclusion in contract documentation
- Managing company electrical design policy including:
- Development of a company electrical design strategy
- Procurement of, and training on, the required design software
- Development of novel detailed design templates
- Ensuring ‘value engineering’ is applied to all technical designs
- Managing a diverse range of design consultants in an optimal fashion
- Ensuring all electrical design activities are carried out to the highest quality standards and in accordance with relevant health and safety standards
Experience
The candidate will be a graduate electrical engineer, preferably chartered. He/she should be able to display a thorough knowledge of modern electrical design principles and have considerable experience in carrying out electrical system design works. Experience of AutoCAD is a requirement of the position. Knowledge of current European and BS regulations is also preferred.
He/she will have proven capability to lead a technical team forward and establish new and best work practices. Technical language capabilities in Italian, Swedish or Polish languages would be desirable. Candidates will also be expected to be innovative thinkers and have a proven track record of working and succeeding at the highest level.
