Electrical Engineer - REF: AR/08/29
Role
Airtricity are currently seeking to recruit an electrical engineer to work in their engineering department. The location of this position is Belfast or Dublin.
The successful individual will report direct to the Electrical Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the Construction, Acquisitions, Procurement and Development teams with electrical technical issues.
- Development of internal engineering template contract documents (Employer’s Requirements) for project construction works.
- Assisting with contract document preparation during the wind farm ‘pre-construction phase’. This will include management and preparation of substation, turbine contracts and balance of plant contracts
- Wind farm equipment detailed design and specification.
- Determination of optimal connection concepts for on-shore and off-shore wind farms.
- Assisting with pre-purchasing of long lead electrical plant items e.g. transformers, cables, switchgear, substation equipment.
- Managing aspects of the grid connection process across a portfolio of sites in Irish and new European markets. This will include:
o Managing a diverse range of international consultants in an optimal fashion
o Overall responsibility for the range of tasks required to develop a wind farm including ‘grid plans’, feasibility studies, connection applications - Active participation in the ongoing development of the engineering department.
- Ensuring all electrical engineering activities are carried out to the highest quality standards and in accordance with the relevant health and safety standards.
Experience
The candidate will be either:
a) a non-graduate with HNC/HND or equivalent in electrical engineering as a minimum and an exceptionally high level of experience and knowledge of electrical engineering systems, or
b) a graduate electrical engineer, preferably chartered
Technical language capabilities in Italian, Swedish or Polish languages would be advantageous. Candidates will also be expected to be innovative thinkers and have a proven track record of working and succeeding at the highest level.

- Excellent engineering, communication and management skills
- Capacity to deliver high quality work on a consistent basis in a pressured environment
- Technical report and letter writing skills
- Willingness to travel
