Airtricity is a world leading renewable energy company developing and operating wind farms across Europe. The company is both a generator and supplier of electricity and currently supplies green electricity to over 38,000 commercial customers in Ireland.
In January 2008, the sale of Airtricity was completed to Scottish and Southern Energy Plc. SSE is the UK’s largest generator of renewable energy, owning and operating over 1,300MW of hydro and one of the UK’s largest operational wind farms.
Airtricity is seeking to appoint a number of Test Analysts to help test and deliver the project and solutions portfolio for the Airtricity Supply Business Unit. This is an IT business focused role and will require a candidate with significant experience in the delivery of key enterprise applications.
- The candidate will come from a business user background and/or have significant experience within a utility or financial services business and should be familiar with project development life cycle methodologies.
- This is a demanding role which will require the candidate to understand the importance of the role of the Test team within Airtricity and the significance of its contribution to adding value to the overall business.
- Provide analytical input to business requirement definition, solution specification, test and delivery for integrated solutions in the Airtricity business environment.
- Develop and execute test strategies
- Review and approve test scenarios/test cases provided by Project team.
- Co-ordinate environment setup.
- Execute test cycles and co-ordinate other QA resources.Ability to size and scope vague requirements into a practical work solution/work package
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements so the following can be tested against business specification: conceptual business process designs, functional/user, screen and interface designs
- Utilise your knowledge & experience of management systems (existing & other) and best practice methodologies
- Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Work independently with users to define concepts and under direction of the Test Manager and/or Project Managers
- Co-ordinate and manage communications with end-users (Business Managers, Business users, Third party system owners etc.)
Key Tasks
- Work with project managers on key projects and business initiatives to ensure that adequate testing is performed for successful project delivery and that business managers’ needs are met from a quality perspective.
- Work with project managers, and the project teams, to complete detailed test cases and test scripts that are aligned to the business requirements, and that can be efficiently and accurately executed in a test plan.
- In conjunction with the project managers, project team, and test manager, ensure that the Business Requirements for any project can be tested and during the lifecycle of a project are converted to adequate and accurate test requirements, and ultimately test cases.
- In conjunction with project managers, work with the vendors to ensure that all defects are logged, communicated, managed through to resolution, and retested.
- Carry out End to End and User Acceptance Testing of solutions
- Writing test plans and test scripts from technical and functional specs
- Executing and controlling test scripts
- Logging of defects, risks, issues, etc. into appropriate logs and Quality Centre as required.
- Assisting across multiple projects as the need may arise
- Contributing to the team in keeping projects on schedule
- Suggesting improvements in test process
- Communicating effectively with internal and external customers
Education and experience:
- Primary degree in Information Technology or Business Studies.
- Experience of Test Analysis
- A recognised qualification or accreditation in a test discipline (preferably).
- High proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Understand the business value that can be derived from IT projects, and particularly the value derived from the testing phase of the project delivery life cycle.
- Experience working in a complex matrix managed multi-project environment.
- Strong ability to work within a team environment and with all levels of management in the technology and business areas.
- Excellent organisation, verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience using test management tool.
