Your Airtricity bill explained
Following customer feedback and subsequent research, Airtricity undertook a project to redesign how your Airtricity bill is presented to you.

Front of bill
Invoice Number: This is a sequential reference number for your invoice. Each invoice will have its own unique reference number.
Account Number: This is your new Airtricity Account Number. You have one Airtricity Account Number which covers all premises (except for Max Demand and Interval meters which are allocated a separate Account Number)
MPRN Number: This stands for Meter Point Reference Number. This is a unique reference number which identifies where your meter is positioned.
DG, MCC, Profile: Used to identify DUoS Group, Meter Configuration and Usage Profile.
Balance forward: This is the total balance due from your previous billing period.
Amount due before this bill: This is the amount outstanding for payment before the charges for the current billing period.
Units: Number of electricity units used at a particular tariff (kWh). Details of units used, by meter type, are shown on the reverse of the invoice.
MIC: Maximum Import Capacity is the specific capacity contract (agreed between the premise owner and ESB Networks) for the amount of electricity that can be safely used.
Rate: Rate charged per electricity unit used.
Standing Charge: This is a fixed monthly charge applied to cover the costs of metering services.
PSO: Public Service Obligation. This is a pass through charge that Airtricity pays to ESB Networks on your behalf. This PSO Levy was introduced by the Government in 2003 to ensure that a percentage of the country’s available electricity is produced from native fuels for security of supply reasons and to help protect our environment. Every electricity customer is obliged to pay this levy regardless of who their electricity supplier is. The PSO levy is applied as either a fixed charge or per unit of kVA depending on the level of Maximum Import Capacity (MIC) (see no. 12).
VAT at 13.5%: VAT payable on your electricity usage, including PSO and Standing Changes.
Total costs for this period: Total costs for this billing period, excluding VAT.
Total VAT: Total VAT charges (incorporating VAT credits from reversed invoices, if applicable).
Total charges for this period: Total charges for this billing period, including VAT.
Total amount outstanding: This is the total amount due for payment and incorporates ‘Total charges for this period’ (see no. 24) plus ‘Amount due before this bill’ (see no. 10).
Total Due: This is your account balance at time of bill issue. For direct debit customers, this is the amount which will be debited from your account on the payment due date.
By choosing Airtricity as your green renewable electricity supplier: This represents the amount of Kg’s of C02 you have prevented from being released into the atmosphere (this billing period) as a result of choosing Airtricity as your green electricity supplier.
Remittance Advice: You should detach this and submit with any non-direct debit payments.

Usage Details: Outlines your meter readings. Both Present and Previous meter readings are shown – as well as any Interim meter readings, if applicable. Estimated meter readings are used if no actual readings are available (and are marked as such). To ensure your account is as accurate and as current as possible, you may provide us with a meter reading, either by visiting www.airtricity.com or by calling our Customer Service team on 1850 40 40 70.
Description: Details the meter type.
Previous Reading: This is your meter reading at the start of this billing period.
Interim Reading: Meter readings received between the Previous and Present readings.
Present Reading: This is your meter reading at the end of this billing period
Multiplier: For customers who use large amounts of electricity, meters may not have sufficient capacity to register consumption, so a ‘multiplier’ must be used. Therefore, only a fraction of the actual kilowatt hours consumed is recorded on the meter. The units recorded must be multiplied by a specific factor – the ‘multiplier’ – to determine the Usage.
Usage: Number of electricity units used at that particular meter. This is calculated by taking the Present Reading units from the Previous Reading units (incorporating Interim Reading units, if applicable) and multiplying by the ‘multiplier’ (if applicable).
Fuel mix disclosure: This shows that 89% of Airtricity’s energy comes from renewable sources, this disclosure is based upon 2006 figures published by the CER
