Corneen



In August 2001, Airtricity opened its second wind farm in Ireland on the Slieve Rushen mountain, near Ballyconnell in County Cavan. The turbine blades rotate at 20rpm and produce at full capacity 3MW of power at 690V. The voltage is stepped up to 20kV in the transformers at the base of the tower and connected through a small substation on the farm to the distribution network.
