C & I (SCADA) Engineer

Airtricity was acquired by Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) in February 2008. The acquisition gave SSE the market entry it was seeking to supply energy to customers in Ireland. SSE intends to utilise Airtricity as a platform to develop a truly pan-European renewables business and to become a major market force in the energy supply sector in Ireland. Following its sale, Airtricity now has two definitive businesses – energy supply and renewable energy development.

We are currently recruiting a high calibre Control & Instrumentation (SCADA) engineer to set-up a new C&I department within the existing Airtricity Renewables Engineering team. The successful candidate will lead on C&I issues during the development and construction phases of on and offshore projects. This position will be based in Belfast or Omagh.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ownership of Control & Instrumentation design and specification issues during the development and pre-construction stages of a project including those relating to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems
  • Development and implementation of a C&I business plan and strategy to facilitate meeting company goals for wind farm construction
  • Development of novel C&I, SCADA, protection and telecommunication systems for state of the art wind farm power stations
  • Ensuring that C&I systems for each project are compatible with existing Airtricity/SSE ENMAC and EMN systems and in line with our ‘one fleet approach’ to technical hardware
  • Liaising with resident telecoms engineers to ensure successful implementation of telecoms requirements on a project by project basis
  • Supporting the Airtricity construction team with technical issues
  • Assisting with C&I contract document preparation
  • Ownership of C&I technical specifications and template documentation
  • Managing a diverse range of consultants and contractors in an optimal fashion
  • Ensuring all C&I engineering activities are carried out to the highest quality standards and in accordance with relevant health and safety standards

Experience

You will be a senior graduate engineer, preferably chartered or have equivalent professional experience. You will have proven capability to lead a technical team forward and establish new and best work practices. Technical foreign language capabilities would be desirable.
