Scottish and Southern Energy is one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK and the Country’s second largest generation business, with a total capacity of over 10,000MW. We are also the UK’s largest generator of electricity from renewable sources, owning and operating almost half of the UK’s total renewable generation capacity.
SSE Wind Generation is the largest Owner and Operator of Wind Farms in the UK. SSE is building an ambitious programme of new Wind Farms, both on-shore and Off-shore and requires highly motivated and skilled personnel to match. The team operates across a number of offices in Perthshire, Glasgow and Ireland, undertaking all aspects of wind farm management, operation and maintenance.
The South Scotland O&M Regional Manager will be responsible for the management of the SSE South Scotland windfarms. The key responsibilities include:
• Ensure the operational sites are managed and operated in accordance with health and safety regulations and SSE policy and procedures
• Support the Site Operators/ Supervisors with operational and maintenance issues and act as an experienced and expert point of contact
• Ensure that the windfarms meet target availability
• Manage the maintenance on all sites in the region and ensure that all maintenance is carried out in accordance with the maintenance schedule and that all maintenance is fully documented
• Ensure that the windfarms are adequately resourced and the Site Operators/ Supervisors are adequately trained to carry out their roles. Motivate and develop reporting staff
• Produce a maintenance plan and manage site outages to minimise overall downtime
• Liaise with the Turbine and BOP manufacturers on a regular basis
• Liaise with the Project Development and Construction teams during the development of new sites
• Assist the Integration Manager to manage the take over of new sites into the portfolio
• Support on other asset management issues, project development and asset acquisition.
The candidate will have experience of wind turbine maintenance and operation, ideally have management experience and be self motivated and strongly driven. Essential skills required include:
• Strong management skills and an ability to manage a dispersed team
• Excellent knowledge of wind turbines and HV electrical equipment
• Experience of servicing, troubleshooting and operating wind turbines and electrical BOP
• Strong interpersonal, communications and relationship management skills
• Experience with IT systems and applications
• Excellent planning and scheduling skills
• A good understanding of Supply Agreements, Warranty and Maintenance Contracts and Planning Conditions
• Inquisitive and innovative mindset
• Communication skills, technical report and letter writing skills
• Capacity to deliver high quality results on a consistent basis in a pressured environment
