From 21 May 2012, new IT systems are being introduced to Northern Ireland’s electricity market.
The new system will improve the process of switching electricity suppliers for all customers.
Most customers will notice no change in the service they receive. However, during the transition period some customers may experience a small amount of inconvenience. Customers will only be affected if:
- You are switching or want to switch your electricity supplier during this time; or
- You have applied, or wish to apply, for a new connection to the electricity network.
Please note that top up facilities will be unavailable for keypad customers on 20th May from 1.00am to 5.00am to allow for this update.
In the weeks before 21 May, if you are one of the customers wanting to switch supplier or have applied for a new connection, you will find the following services will take longer than usual to process:
- Requests to switch supplier; and
- Booking appointments, for example to change meters.
When the system goes live on 21 May there will be a gradual return to normal service.
Customers who are awaiting a new electricity connection or alteration to their existing electricity connection will be contacted directly by NIE, the electricity network company.
If you have a question regarding the new IT systems and how it will affect you, please contact our Customer Service team on 0845 601 9093, Monday to Friday 8:00am - 8:00pm.
